About Dr. Peggy Sissel

Peggy Sissel, Ed.D., M.A. is an award-winning educator and author who has dedicated her 30-year career to the health and well being of children and families.

Her experience as an educator of adults, an advocate for better child development and improved literacy levels, and an administrator in a variety of health and human service settings has given her a unique perspective on what all parents need (and need to know) in order to give their children the very best start in life.

In 2002 she co-founded Reach Out and Read Arkansas, which is a local chapter of a national medical initiative that trains physicians and nurses about the importance of books and reading to early development.  During well child visits around the state, Reach Out and Read Arkansas has helped distribute over 500,000 books to children and families.

She lives in Little Rock, Arkansas, is married to Kevin, and is the mother of a son Patrick, a daughter Erin, and a soon to be daughter-in-law, Anna.

And we all know how valuable the experience of being a mom is!
